So Tokyo Dome is most famous for being where the Tokyo Giants play, but did you know that there’s also an amusement park attached to it? They frequently do collaborations with popular TV shows, anime, and manga, usually media geared towards teenagers and children. Previously this year they did a collaboration with Haikyuu, and the Yowamushi Pedal collaboration just finished.
So a friend of mine had been wanting to go to this event for a while, and we finally met up in Tokyo to go on the second to last weekend!

Report: Shinjuku Animate Café – Yuri!!! on ICE
You may or may not have noticed, but Yuri!!! on ICE has blown up. This is either their second or third Animate collab, and one of three that is currently running. The first was their food truck outside of the head shop in Ikebukuro, the second was a collab with the Fukuoka Animate store, and now they have collabs running in Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, and Thailand.
This is the first report from my Yuri!!! on ICE Animate Café adventures, and it will not be my last.

Report: King of System Collab Drinks - Yuri!!! on Ice and Haikyuu (November 2016 to January 2017)
I'll be making a guide for King of System soon, but all you really need to know is that it's a karaoke joint that does a lot of anime collaborations. They also do take out, so you can just pick these drinks up at any time from their participating store fronts. Dope, right?
So let's see what I got this time.

Report: Sweets Paradise - Yuri!!! on Ice Collab
So this collab was my first occasion to go to Sweets Paradise, but let me tell you I want to go again and again because other than the awkwardness of being alone in the center of the restaurant, it was a great experience. I actually enjoyed it so much that I shelled out the 2,180 yen to get the collab menu twice.

Report: J-World – Katekyoshi Hitman Reborn Event
So overall I would say this event was a bit underwhelming, but since I personally got into Reborn 5 years after the anime and manga had ended, I was still happy to see it.

Report: J-World - JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable
So I’m not the biggest JoJo’s fan in the world (that title belongs to my partner in crime Buttcape), but I’ve been enjoying watching the anime and I would like to start reading the manga because the artwork that I’ve seen is utterly beautiful. What I like about JoJo’s is that the characters somehow manage to be utterly beautiful, but in an incredibly masculine way. What I would say about this event is that it does not really capture that, but most of these events are based on the animes, and while the animes tend to be enjoyable, they do not usually have the same care and skill applied to the art as the mangas do.

Report: Collabo Cafe Honpo - Daiya no A Edition
You may or may not know this, but I’m a huge fan of
Daiya no A. It’s my current everything. Since I showed up in Japan just past
the Daiya hype, a lot of events for the series have already passed such as
various Animate Café’s, stage plays, baseball team collaboration events, karaoke
collaborations, and many many more. You could imagine the excitement I felt when I saw
the announcement that Collabo Café Honpo was going to do a Daiya collaboration.
While I was in Tokyo the first weekend of the café for a douj event, I never saw when they’d open reservations and they were all booked up before I could get my chance to snag one, so I made a second 3 hour long trip to Tokyo in order to reach this one. This past weekend I had the honor and delight of going to Collabo Café Honpo’s Daiya no A Café.

Collabo Cafe Honpo |
Making the reservation and getting to the café was
easy enough. They tell you that it is just in front of the Don Quijote in
Akihabara, and that’s true. The photos the café posted to Twitter made it seem
like the café was huge, but it was actually quite small. The magic of upward
angles I guess.
